So I love it.
Despite the cold and the recent rain Peterborough is amazing. It has so much to offer.
Yesterday, James, his dad and I all went to this Viking exhibit at the Peterborough Museum. It was fantastic, there where these people there dressed up and acting as vikings. They where demonstrating the real thing too, working as black smiths and making knives with just a fire and a simple air pump, spinning yarn on hand spindles with of wool that they had sheared, cooking over fires and weaving blankets, playing period instruments that they had made them selves. I mean it was incredible, the people where twice as impressive as the artifacts because you could actually interact with them. And I wanted to run away with them, at least I thought about it.
But hey I got to weave some of a blanket. Yeah, I'm the best.
It's so great here, you walk almost everywhere. James and I walk down to the coffee shops almost everyday to sit a while or down two blocks to the corner store to buy James' smokes.
There is a public transit system which is amazing, and all the faces are so friendly.
You start to recognize folks on your rout to down town and associate them with different blocks Like homeless guy two blocks south of the house, smiley nice lady three blocks east, weird Chinese restaurant workers north west (which is rumored to use dog in there dishes.) In any case it's fun and way too cold to get boring.
It's kinda like a book. A middle class industrial town in Canada and all of the sudden this girl from down in Georgia shows up. Reminds me of a play we did in seventh grade at Rome Middle, The Hollywood Hillbillies.
Of course nobody knows till I ask for a glass of wine at a pub and they take a good look at my i.d. most are fascinated by it, till somebody wants another form of identification because they've never seen one like that before and are unsure if it's the real deal, I can't really help it if I look 15 I refuse to wear eye liner.
But life is good and there are book stores everywhere with tons of used books. So many that I can barely ever decide what to choose. I could use some recommendations, but oh well.
I will post pictures soon, I just keep procrastinating.
I'm great and I hope you're great, stop in sometime.
